A touch of history ... Art Nouveau golden plique ajour scarf clip.
Every now and then it happens: then we find a beautiful piece of Art Nouveau jewelry in outstanding condition. Such is the
case now.
This Art Nouveau scarf clip has no traces of wear what-so-ever and the plique-ajour enamel is in top condition too.
Plique ajour is a French term and it refers to a technique in which the goldsmith uses enamel in a glass-stained-windows
manner. Holding this scarf clip against the light you can clearly see this effect.
The Art Nouveau motif used in the clip is clearly that of the lotus flower. A well know motif used in old Egypt and used by
goldsmiths in the Art Nouveau period as source of inspiration.
A true collectors item, a very special piece indeed.
